Review: Heart Journey by Roben D. Owens

Helena, a renowned cartographer, is exploring Celta when she finds out she has a HeartMate. Yearning for a partner, she is drawn to meet him.

Actor Raz Cherry is dedicated to his career. Uninterested in long-term commitments, he ignores an oracle that foretells of his HeartMate.

Though passion ignites, their lifestyles clash. Only when mysterious thefts threaten their families can they overcome the obstacles on their journey to love.

Helena aka Del is a very strong woman. She's been on her own a long time. She doesn't need a man but wants to meet her heartmate. She's also 8 yrs older than him. That was definitely different but in this world almost immaterial since the live really love lives. Raz now is younger and wants to be a renowned actor. And she can't stay in this city and he can't leave. It takes almost loosing each literally and figuratively for both of these strong characters to compromise and come together forever.

You can always count on Roben to give a great read always. Looking forward to many more books from Ms. Owens both in and out of this world.

4 stars from me for a self-purchased book.

Review: No Mercy by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Product Description

Live fast, fight hard and if you have to die then take as many of your enemies with you as you can. That is the Amazon credo and it was one Samia lived and died by. Now in contemporary New Orleans, the immortal Amazon warrior is about to learn that there’s a worse evil coming to slaughter mankind than she’s ever faced before.

Shapeshifter Dev Peltier has stood guard at the front of Sanctuary for almost two hundred years and in that time, he’s seen it all. Or so he thought. Now their enemies have discovered a new source of power- one that makes a mockery of anything faced to date.

The war is on and Dev and Sam are guarding ground zero. But in order to win, they will have to break the most cardinal of all rules and pray it doesn’t unravel the universe as we know it.

Oh man I loved this book. SK has done it again. She rocked the Dark-Hunter world. And oh man the dogs of War are fantastic. I love Samia. She was hell on wheels with the exception of a child. They are her Achilles heel. And I've always been a little bit in love with Dev. But we found out more about him and the Pelitiers than we knew before. And can I say Nick and Artie eew eew eew and double eew. Didn't see that one and am so hoping that they don't end up together. And it was good to see that the changes SK is putting in Nick's books is affecting the Dark-Hunter series. I believe that is what those shudders Nick is dealing with are from. Or I do hope so. I can't wait for the one of her books. I bought this one all by lonesome and give it 4 1/2 stars.

Review: Last Dragon Standing by G.A. Aiken

Product Description

I know what they see when they look at me. The charming, soft-spoken dragoness bred from the most powerful of royal bloodlines. A disguise stronger than any battle shield that allows me to keep all suitors at tail's length. A technique that's worked until him. Until Ragnar the Cunning, handsome barbarian warlord and warrior mage from the desolate Northlands. Unlike those who've come before him, he does not simply submit to my astounding charm and devastating smile. Instead, he dismisses me as vapid, useless and, to my great annoyance, rather stupid! Yet I'll allow no male to dismiss me. Soon he'll learn my worth, my many skills, and the strength of my will. For this one challenges me enough to make me want to ruthlessly taunt him, tease him and, finally, when the trap is set, bring him to his knees.

I am a big big fan of G.A. Aiken/Shelly Laurenston's books and this one was no exception. At first glance Keita is your typical royal whiny ass princess but no after you take a second look she's a cunning, evil wench who will smile to your face all the while she's cutting your throat and that's in human form. As a dragon your just toast. Now Ragnar is from the North and he a very smart tough dragon that has to fight for his position and even though I said he was smart you'll have to forgive him cause sometime he thinks with his little head and actually believes that Keita is the persona she puts on. But he finally get his act together just in time to help the Keita and her kin as war is coming. I await the next one in this series with baited breathe.
Just fair warning these books are like Lay's chips you can't and don't want to stop with just one.
I purchased this one for my own reading pleasure.

Princess Bookie is having a great contest craze in the month of October. Go here to check it out.

Mini Review Sin Undone by Larissa Ione

Product Description

HER TOUCH IS DEADLY

As the only female Seminus demon ever born, master assassin Sinead Donnelly is used to being treated like an outcast. She spent decades enslaved, and now vows she'll die before she'll relinquish her freedom again. Then Sin's innate ability to kill her enemies goes awry: She creates a lethal new werewolf virus that sparks a firestorm of panic and violence.

HIS HUNGER CAN'T BE DENIED

Half-werewolf, half-vampire Conall Dearghul is charged with bringing in Sin to face punishment for the plague. And she's no stranger: He's bound to her by blood, and the one sexual encounter they shared has left him hungering for her raw sensuality. Worse, Sin is the underworld's most wanted and Con soon learns he's the only one who can help her . . . and that saving her life might mean sacrificing his own.

I love the main characters in this story. Sin is such a badass but deep way deep inside she has a soft side especially for family.  She doesn't want a mate and says she doesn't need one. And Con who's such a hottie and somewhat of a manwhore definitely doesn't even entertain the notion of having a mate. After they hook-up in a previous book they then have to work together to stop this plague that Sin has inadvertently started.  And along the way they have to fight other wargs, her assassins, everyone else assassins, and even one of the four horseman of the Apocalypse. Oh and btw they fall in love in between fights and medical tests. I'd always been told that adrenaline from as a fight was great aphrodisiac but these two prove that beyond a doubt. My favorite scene was when Con was showing Sin the difference between making love and having sex.  Sin Undone is one great read and has it all laughter, tears, and an emotional satisfying happy ending.
I give this book 4 1/2 stars and I bought and paid for this all on my lonesome.
